PAT Testing

PAT testing also known as portable appliance testing is the inspection and testing that is required of all portable electrical appliances to assess their safety, and the safety of the operator. The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment.  This therefore requires the need for a regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing to comply.

Pat Testing is required anywhere that appliances are used by

  • employees
  • general public in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops, etc.
  • equipment being supplied or hired.
  • equipment been repaired or serviced.

Each item has to display a label to indicate whether the item has passed or failed, the date of last test and the date of the next test due. A certificate is required to show the items are tested and have passed.

EMSL offer a variety of services for PAT testing, our pricing is based per item, but we do have priced packages available, to help make it more cost effective.

Items can be tested onsite, or to save costs you can bring your items to us, for further details and to book your slot, please call us on 01476 579574.
